BVG-fahrinfo in its third decade
Whether route information, notices about stops and lines, schedule changes due to construction or planned / actual departure times – passengers can use the BVG-fahrinfo (Berlin public transportation operator) information portal to easily find out the fastest way to get from A to B, either via Internet or mobile phone.
BVG-fahrinfo is based on the IVU.journey product, which features the well-proven HAFAS processing core for optimal route determination. Together, experts from BVG and IVU have developed a series of enhancements over the past few years. BVG customers will now also be able to get extensive and precise information about their planned journey, including basic timetable information and more. Since the middle of 2009, BVG-fahrinfo has continually enjoyed hundreds of thousands of visitors to the portal each day. The electronic city map, which is currently called up around 5 million times each month, is also worth special mention. In addition to integration in the timetables, the city map also provides information such as the infrastructure of the stops, actual departure times, location maps, ticket locations and of course addresses for locating the nearest stop. Another information module integrated in BVG-fahrinfo contains an interactive regional rail network map that at a glance shows potential lift or escalator disruptions at transfer stations.
BVG-fahrinfo, now in its third decade of success, will take on a range of new challenges in the future to increase customer satisfaction.
