IVU.plan for KVB
In Cologne, approximately 850,000 people use public transport every weekday, but during the Cologne Carnival there are an additional two million passengers – coping with these numbers requires really good planning. With some 3,000 personnel, 368 trams, 305 buses on almost sixty routes, the Kölner Verkehrs- Betriebe AG is the fourthlargest public transport utility in Germany. IVU.plan, IVU.vehicle and IVU.crew are used in Cologne to plan everything from the timetables through to the duty schedules: the integrated timetables for the buses and trams, the various timetable printouts, the transfer of timetable data to the regional transport network, and associated services. The preparation of the duty schedules for the more than 1,400 drivers, taking into account their special requests, and the transfer of data to SAP for payroll is carried out locally at each depot. The drivers can use various driver information terminals to collect details of their own schedule, and can also enter any special requests that they have.
