Internet-based real estate register launched (PR)
Brandenburg's interior minister Schönbohm starts up LiKa-Online, New e-Government product from IVU
In order to cut back bureaucracy and eliminate long waiting times, Land Brandenburg has decided to introduce a new land registry system: LiKa-Online. This product, developed by the Berlin software house IVU Traffic Technologies AG, makes the cadastral real estate register accessible online. More than 49 million geodata entries had to be processed and integrated in the system - but that was no problem for IVU, which has more than 30 years of experience in software development.LiKa-Online is one of the first systems in Germany that allow users to obtain official extracts from the state cadastral land register via the internet. It was declared open for commercial and professional users by Brandenburg's interior minister Jörg Schönbohm on 24 August 2006. LiKa-Online marks a further step in the expansion of e-Government.
This new system from IVU provides a portal which makes it possible for the administration, public notaries, and financial institutions to obtain excerpts for their clients on-line from the automated real estate register (ALB), the automated real estate maps (ALK), and the survey plans (ANS), either through the internet or the intranet of Brandenburg's administration. With the aim of "Moving the data - not the people", LiKa-Online provides access to information for more than 3 million land parcels, with 1 million datasets for land register entries, 44 million map excerpts, and 1 million survey plans.
In addition, there is also a separate Web Map Service (WMS) of the Brandenburg surveying and geoinformation office (LGB) through which the 44 million land parcel map excerpts can be accessed by anybody with a legitimate interest. The data can therefore also be used for other applications, which is particularly interesting for companies operating in the geoinformation sector. Instead of having to store huge amounts of data, individual geo-service providers can now have direct access through the Web Map Service to Brandenburg's current automated real estate map data at the LGB.
The introduction of LiKa-Online by Land Brandenburg together with IVU represents a further milestone in the establishment of the Geodata infrastructure (GDI) in Brandenburg.
