IVU wins major order from BVG (PR)
Berlin public transport company invests in MICROBUS system
Following an international tendering procedure, Berlin's BVG public transport company has placed an order with IVU Traffic Technologies AG for its MICROBUS planning system. The Berlin public transport company BVG has chosen to place its trust in MICROBUS. With more than 200 users, MICROBUS is one of the leading systems in Europe for urban and regional public transport companies. The system can be used to plan bus and train operations from timetable and vehicle scheduling through to duty scheduling in a first step. It also provides information to passengers, drivers and management.
The project will be starting in this quarter. The system will be implemented over a period of two years. For a five-year period following the conclusion of the project, BVG and IVU have concluded a maintenance contract. "We are very pleased that the BVG public transport company has now also decided to switch over to MICROBUS. We regard this as a positive signal for the sector“, commented Professor Dr. Ernst Denert, Chairman of the Board of IVU.
"BVG was already very satisfied with the earlier BERTA system which IVU developed specially for it some 15 years ago. With MICROBUS we will have a very user-friendly system which supports our personnel in a wide range of activities – from planning and scheduling through to wages accounting. And in addition we will benefit from the good services provided by the IVU system house here in Berlin“, said Detlev Kruse, BVG's Director for Finances and Information Technology.
IVU Traffic Technologies AG is a leading supplier of IT systems for planning, operating and optimising transport and logistics processes. Over 25 years of experience developing hardware and software systems for more than 300 public transport companies has also made IVU the market leader for IT solutions in other segments: monitoring truck fleets, setting up retail networks in geo-marketing, election processing. This is IVU's approach to transportation and beyond.
