IVU.rail
The IVU.suite for rail transport

Every day is filled with complex tasks for railway companies: creating timetables, planning vehicle schedules, organising duties, operating trains, managing data and much more. These complex tasks require specialists with the right training and the right tools.

IVU.rail comprises all products of the IVU.suite with special functions for rail transport. The system maps a railway company’s operational processes in their entirety, offering a suitable solution for every task. IVU.rail allows railway companies to establish an entirely digital workflow and to integrate all operations from planners to train drivers. Whether they use the end-to-end solution or stand-alone products, all data remains in a single system, ensuring efficiency on the rails and in the control centre. We understand the complexity of the tasks that railway companies need to tackle, which is why IVU.rail contains all the tools required for successful operations. It is a configurable standard system, facilitating a quick and easy implementation. As the industry-leading resource management system, IVU.rail supports railway companies around the world to optimally deploy vehicles, ensure employees are at the right place at the right time, provide information to millions of passengers and manage transport contracts.

Train Path Management

Train path management
Efficiently keeping trains on track

Rail transport requires long-term planning of all operational resources: Train paths need to be ordered from the network operator, and vehicle and personnel availability needs to be checked in advance. At the same time, volatile conditions such as short-notice train path changes create challenges for planners and dispatch managers. IVU.rail’s integrated train path management function helps them to tackle such highly complex tasks. They can use it to view the timetable currently planned by the network operator in IVU.rail, and integrate it into the operational timetable planning and vehicle working scheduling.

The module makes it possible to import train paths into IVU.rail via interfaces at any time. The system already supports the forthcoming European standards TAF/TAP TSI, making it possible to request and order train paths from the infrastructure operator directly from planning and dispatch.

The system also provides a train path history. It enables planners to analyse train path changes, such as a difference between ordered and received train paths or an update to a train path because of infrastructure work, before transferring them to the scheduled trains.

An integrated conflict model also makes planners aware of technical conflicts between a train and a scheduled train path. To support the tracking of changes over time, timetable planners can manually determine if they want to change the train and its trips to match the new train path. The adjustment process that follows is automatic to reduce error-prone and time-consuming manual edits. The graphical dispatch view displays and filters emerging vehicle dispatch conflicts automatically using a colour code. This allows dispatch managers in the control centre to keep track of ongoing conflict situations at all times.

Integrated Train Path Management

Everything in one system: Planners can manage train paths directly in IVU.rail and track all orders. From 2022 onwards it will be possible for train building messages, which will be mandatory in the future, to be sent automatically from the dispatch via TCM.

Convenient Import Function

IVU.rail obtains all construction site documents from DB Netz AG via an interface - manual preparatory work and planning in external systems are no longer necessary. This accelerates the process and reduces the risk of errors.

Comprehensive Train Management

IVU.rail creates a fixed link between the trains and the ordered train paths in the planning, and updates them automatically when there are updates. Thanks to the integrated conflict management, planners can swiftly see where they need to step in, and trains can be automatically adjusted.

Short-Term Adjustments

Construction-related changes are automatically assigned to the correct trains by IVU.rail and additional train paths are generated as needed. Affected trains can be easily filtered with the help of the event assignment, and multiple events can be quickly identified.

Automated Construction Planning

IVU.rail compares construction-related guidelines with the existing planning and adjusts them at the touch of a button. If trains are required for additional services then they can easily be created from train paths.

TAP TSI Compliant Interface

Direct line to DB Netz: From the start of TAP TSI, IVU.rail will obtain current train path information in a standard-compliant manner via an interface from the infrastructure manager, and import it into the timetable planning system. Planners then have an overview of the available train paths at all times.

Personnel Control Centre

IVU.crew Personnel Control Centre
Maintain overview

Achieve maximum flexibility in personnel deployment with our personnel control centre. The new feature visually represents the assignments of your employees and visualises conflicts – anytime and in real-time.

Whether it's forward planning or quick modifications at short notice – with the personnel control centre of IVU, the additional service in IVU.crew, dispatch managers can track the current assignments of drivers. As part of IVU.rail's integrated rail control centre, the personnel control centre uses the same configurations as the other products in the complete solution.

Personnel and vehicle data are continuously synchronised and visualised in the software. When there are modifications in the personnel deployment, the effects on vehicle dispatch are immediately visible. Conflicts are displayed and options for resolving them are suggested. All rules such as rest times or drivers' link knowledge are considered.

This makes the IVU.crew personnel control centre another efficient tool that avoids redundant activities, reduces errors and speeds up processes significantly – a considerable relief for your dispatch managers.
