The aim of good planning is not just to find the shortest path from A to B, but also to do justice to the varied requirements of the companies, their employees and their customers. There is a huge number of influencing factors: deadlines agreed on with customers must be met, orders completed within a specific period of time and statutory working time regulations complied with. Different priorities increase the level of complexity even further. In addition to restrictions such as deadlines and labour law regulations, factors such as qualifications, employees’ knowledge of the places concerned and distances between the place of residence and order location must be taken into consideration in planning.

IVU.workforce combines established planning and optimisation algorithms with individual customer requirements in order to ensure that planning is efficient, and above all else, suitable for everyday use.

In the Workforce Suite, a distinction is made between planning activities with different automation levels. The planning methods range from interactive, manual planning and semi-automatic planning using evaluated planning recommendations right up to automatic planning. All variants work on the basis of a rapid planning core, taking all defined basic conditions into consideration.

Interactive manual planning allows the dispatcher to respond to unforeseen events quickly and appropriately. For example, if an employee calls in sick, the dispatcher can display qualified employees in the vicinity of the order location by means of GPS positioning and map displays. These people can then be re-dispatched, depending on what jobs they still have to complete. Everything is documented in accordance with auditing requirements.

Semi-automatic planning helps dispatchers to plan individual orders. For this purpose, cost-evaluated planning recommendations which show the dispatcher the possible planning scenarios are generated so that he can choose one variant.

Automatic planning is used predominantly in bulk transactions made up of many individual services such as electricity readings. Automatic planning allows all orders to be planned and optimised with minimum driving or walking distances. If restrictions are known, they are always taken into consideration.

The Workforce Suite ensures optimum utilisation of staff, materials, vehicles and special tools. Set-up times and unnecessary trips are minimised, the costs for the field staff significantly lowered and the availability of the network improved thanks to integrated troubleshooting. Automatic planning relieves the dispatcher of routine activities. Optimisation based on route, staff and material ensures efficient use of all resources.
