WVG Group chooses IVU.suite depot and charging management
Berlin, 23th July 2026 | The Westfälische Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH (WVG Group) expands their cooperation with IVU Traffic Technologies AG by adding depot and charging management to their IVU.suite. In doing so, they intend to standardise their processes across multiple depots, operationally and energetically optimise charging processes within the group’s systems, and efficiently plan the ongoing electrification of their bus fleet.
As a municipal mobility service provider, the WVG Group brings around 51 million people in Münsterland, Hellwegbörde and Hochsauerland to their destinations with around 700 buses. They have already been using the IVU.suite integrated software since 2014 for network and timetable planning, passenger information, vehicle working scheduling, and the operational control of day-to-day activities. Now the WVG is expanding the system with functions for managing vehicles and depots, and intelligent charging of electric buses.
The depot and charging management allows location-specific configurations to be set up, different forms of sequential charging to be displayed, and depot-wide vehicle swaps to be coordinated at rendezvous stops. This is how the IVU solution supports both individual locations as well as cooperation across the whole transport group. The project starts with a pilot depot, followed by five depots and six opportunity charge systems at central meeting points.
“For the WVG Group’s bus companies, equipping the depots with depot and charging management is a further consistent step to effectively advance the electrification of our bus fleet and to continue standardising our processes across locations. In this way we can integrate charging processes better into everyday operations, deploy our resources more specifically, and offer appealing, high-performance and cost-efficient transport in the region in the future too, “ says Carsten Linge, Department Head of Transport Telematics at the WVG Group.
“For us, extending the IVU.suite with depot and charging management for a large and long-term client is significant confirmation that the advantages of an integrated IT solution will come out on top again and again,” adds Dr Hanna Schachel, Managing Director of Public Transport at IVU Traffic Technologies.
