Software tools can mitigate demographic crisis

Over the next decade, the European rail sector could see up to 45% of its train drivers retire, highlighting the ongoing staff shortage in the industry. This challenge looms large across many facets of day-to-day operations, including crew scheduling, network planning and resource allocation. However, there is also now scope to investigate how far technology could be used to mitigate some of the worst effects of this demographic crisis.
