Ticket inspection and ticket sales on board
using the IVU.validator
Validate tickets, and sell them directly on board — the IVU.validator makes both possible. With this ticket inspection and sales terminal for buses and trams, you can speed up boarding, enable self-service ticket sales, and reduce the workload for drivers in their daily routine.
The fixed-mount terminal combines the functions of a fare inspection device and an on-board ticket vending machine into a single unit: passenger-operated, in real time, and without driver intervention. The IVU.validator can be installed as a reader for boarding checks near the vehicle doors and also serves as a passenger-operated sales terminal there. Whether for ticket validation upon boarding or ticket purchase directly on the bus — the IVU.validator is the reliable solution for transit companies that want to offer their passengers modern, seamless on-board ticketing.

The range of functions of IVU.validator
an overview
As a ticket validator for public transport, the IVU.validator checks all common ticket formats: VDV customer cards, VDV and UIC barcodes, and contactless smart cards. Quick validation reduces waiting times and ensures faster passenger boarding — on buses as well as on trams.
As an on-board ticketing device, the IVU.validator enables direct ticket purchases on board — in accordance with the VDV standard - using customer cards with VDV payment authorizations. In addition, the device supports Account-Based Ticketing (ABT): Passengers can purchase e-tickets directly on the bus or tram using a credit card — without a customer card, without an app, and without prior registration.
The IVU.validator communicates in real time with the electronic fare management (EFM) system and other ITCS systems - by default via the vehicle’s internal router, and optionally via an integrated LTE modem. The 7-inch capacitive touchscreen, integrated customer card reader and barcode scanner, along with the intuitive interface of the IVU.ticket software, make operation simple and accessible for passengers.
The terminal is fully certified for use in buses and trains and, thanks to its robust design, is built to withstand extreme operating conditions: With a service life of up to 10 years and an operating temperature range of -20 °C to +60 °C, the IVU.validator is built for the long term. It combines a passenger-operated fare validation device and an on-board ticket vending machine in a single, future-proof unit.
