IVU.cockpit in Lima

Peru's capital Lima is one of the largest cities in South America, with over 8.5 million inhabitants, and is the cultural and economic centre of the country. To connect the people in the metropolis, the transport authority Autoridad de Transporte Urbano para Lima y Callao (ATU) provides customer-friendly and environmentally-friendly bus transit with the transport system Sistema Integrado de Transporte (SIT). Four different operators serve the SIT routes, including transport operators of Grupo Polo and Modasa.

In order to automatically transmit dispatch-related modifications to the driving personnel and to obtain passenger information in real time, the operators of the SIT introduced IVU.cockpit in more than 600 buses. This means that the participating bus companies can dispense with permanently installed on-board computers and manage everything that is necessary for driving via tablet. The Colombian company SmartTT, as a partner of IVU, implemented the system on site.

Since its introduction, bus drivers receive automatic notifications on the tablet if e.g. a connection is delayed, or if the headway is irregular. At the same time, passenger information across tenants for all of Lima can now be published, and consistent data for performance assessment can be transmitted to the transport authority ATU. IVU.cockpit is tightly integrated with the control centre software IVU.fleet, which supports the dispatch managers with numerous automations and convenient functions.
