IVU.suite for electric buses at ESWE Verkehr

Digital workflows - from vehicle working scheduling to depot and charging management, ESWE Verkehrsgesellschaft relies on the solutions of the IVU.suite to dispatch their electric bus fleet in Wiesbaden. With this solution, ESWE Verkehr will have an integrated complete system for the entire vehicle planning and dispatch process.

Wiesbaden, Germany

ESWE Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH transports over 61 million passengers annually with their environmentally friendly bus fleet that will be completely made up of battery-operated electric buses as of 2023. This means that ESWE Verkehr is one of the pioneers of sustainable transport in Germany, and one of the first companies to electrify their entire fleet. In future, the mobility service provider will plan and dispatch 120 new eCitaro buses from EvoBus with IVU.suite's integrated electric bus solutions. 37 eCitaro buses are already running on Wiesbaden's streets.

IVU.suite continuously records and monitors the state of charge and remaining range during the trip and determines the optimal parking space for the individual electric buses based on a trip-specific energy demand prediction. For this, the system receives data from the vehicle, such as the state of charge or the remaining range, in real time via the digital EvoBus vehicle data interface. When entering the depot,  IVU.suite automatically assigns a matching parking space as well as a following vehicle working. An automatic charging schedule also helps ensure that the vehicles in the depot are charged and pre-conditioned in time for the following vehicle working. At the same time, the charging management system controls and organises the charging devices and monitors the charging process. If needed, the system prioritises charging by departure time and ensures there is correct load shifting.

“The integrated IVU.suite solutions that are especially tailored to battery buses save us numerous individual work steps in the dispatch. In the future we will profit from a completely digital workflow, from rostering to charging management,” said Dietmar Schneider, Division Manager for Technical Operations at ESWE Verkehr. “In addition, the automatic charging and error monitoring has been an immense help to our dispatchers.”

“We are very happy to be moving forward into the age of electromobilty together with our long-term customer ESWE Verkehr,” said Bastian Dittbrenner, Division Manager for Public Transport at IVU. “Together with our partner EvoBus we are shaping a groundbreaking reference project, which is unique in Germany in terms of scope and conception. This project underlines that IVU.suite is the leading integrated standard system for the future of electromobility in public transport.”
