Berlin/Lima, 31 May 2022 | In order to be able to communicate smoothly with the driving personnel at all times and to receive consistent data via tablet, the operators of the transport system in Lima successfully implemented the on-board computer software IVU.cockpit and the control centre IVU.fleet for over 600 buses.
Peru's capital Lima is one of the largest cities in South America, with over 8.5 million inhabitants, and is the cultural and economic centre of the country. To connect the people in the metropolis, the transport authority Autoridad de Transporte Urbano para Lima y Callao (ATU) provides customer-friendly and environmentally-friendly bus transit with the transport system Sistema Integrado de Transporte (SIT). Four different operators serve the SIT routes, including transport operators of Grupo Polo and Modasa.
In order to automatically transmit dispatch-related modifications to the driving personnel and to obtain passenger information in real time, the operators of the SIT introduced IVU.cockpit in more than 600 buses. This means that the participating bus companies can dispense with permanently installed on-board computers and manage everything that is necessary for driving via tablet. The Colombian company SmartTT, as a partner of IVU, implemented the system on site.
Since its introduction, bus drivers receive automatic notifications on the tablet if e.g. a connection is delayed, or if the headway is irregular. At the same time, passenger information across tenants for all of Lima can now be published, and consistent data for performance assessment can be transmitted to the transport authority ATU. IVU.cockpit is tightly integrated with the control centre software IVU.fleet, which supports the dispatch managers with numerous automations and convenient functions.
"Even in distant countries, IVU is able to work with local parters such as SmartTT to introduce high-performance and cost efficient, integrated systems across large areas", says Timo Kirst, Head of the Public Transport Division at IVU Traffic Technologies. "Peru is a country with great potential for growth, and we are proud to now be able to count the Sistema Integrado de Transporte as well as the Grupo Express del Perú among our references."
IVU Traffic Technologies has been providing efficient and environmentally friendly public transport for over 45 years with more than 800 engineers. The integrated standard products of the IVU.suite map all the processes of bus and rail companies: from planning and dispatching to operations control, ticketing and passenger information, right through to the settlement of transport contracts. In close partnership with our customers, we lead demanding IT projects to success and therefore ensure reliable mobility in the metropolises of the world.
