Vehicle interfaces
for buses and trams
Flexible, cost-efficient and sustainable - IVU.box.gateway for buses and IVU.box.railgateway for trams are the ideal solution for seamless networking of all vehicle components. The vehicle interfaces ensure smooth communication in the vehicle, continuously convert important data, and support the entire vehicle control system as an integral part of the IT system.
The vehicle interfaces IVU.box.gateway and IVU.box.railgateway act as central communication nodes that convert all digital and analog vehicle signals into Ethernet data packets. These packets enable efficient data transmission both in the vehicle and to the control centre. Communication is bidirectional and enables exchange with the vehicle electronics and all connected peripheral devices.
IVU's gateways serve all common interfaces for buses and trams, including audio and LSA analog radio devices, CAN bus, distance counters, door control, serial data as well as IBIS and IBIS-IP devices. Thanks to their compatibility with Android and Linux-based vehicle systems, the IVU.box.gateway and IVU.box.railgateway vehicle interfaces can be easily integrated into existing IT architectures. The IVU.box.railgateway also enables network separation in carriage and train networks via VLAN technology.
With a service life of over ten years and a temperature resistance of -25°C to +70°C, the gateways from IVU are particularly robust. Both vehicle interfaces are also maintenance-free. The long and short-lived IT components are technically separated from each other in the devices, which makes it easy to adapt to new developments. By separating the vehicle detection from the end device, the hardware around the gateway can be updated without affecting the gateway. This simplifies cabling across different vehicle types, reduces costs and promotes the sustainable use of materials.

IVU.box.gateway
at VBSG
From personnel dispatch to the control centre to passenger information - the Swiss public transport company Verkehrsbetriebe St. Gallen (VBSG) has been successfully using IVU's integrated solutions for over 30 years. As part of the strategic partnership, the IVU.box.gateway has been in use since the beginning of 2022.

On-board computer
Precise all-rounder on board
The on-board computer is the central communication system in the vehicle. It records and processes all events in real time and communicates with the control centre.
